The History of the Philippines.
The Philippines on Dipity.
The events listed above are all very important to the history of the Philippines as a country. The events I have chose show some key turning points that have contributed to present day Philippines. From the exploration of early inhabitants, as well as the Independence of the Philippines, there are several events that occurred in between those two times that have created and shaped the Philippines over time. The Spanish control over the Philippines has left several influences such as religion, belief systems, language, and government. One of the turning points of the Philippines occurred in 1542, that was when the Spanish claimed the island of the Philippines. Several decades later, the United States gets involved with Spain, causing the Spanish- American War. The Treaty of Paris is what eventually resolved the war in 1898. The Treaty ends the war and cedes the Philippines to the U.S. One of the greatest key events in the Philippines occurred in 1946: The Philippines becomes an independent nation. Without the influences of several countries, the Philippines would not have been able to go through different key points of events in history. Having key points in history is what has developed culture, customs, and what the Philippines is today.
